Experience a new level of fun at ELYU 'Zombie Run'

Running enthusiasts from La Union and nearby provinces will get to experience a more exciting fun run and zombie chase during the first ever “ELYU Zombie Run”  to be held at the Poro Point Baywalk here on October 27.
Event organizer Elijah O. Galvez said the fun run was inspired from the movie “Train to Busan” which greatly affected viewers from all walks of life.
Galvez said that noting this effect, he then came up with  an idea that more people would love and appreciate the zombie run.
Runners to the five-kilometer race will have an objective to dodge  zombies and finish the race with complete three tags or lives.
The zombies for their part will aim to take as many runners’ lives as they can.
Participants can register either as a zombie or hero and wear costumes based on their choice. Zombie participants should bring their own costumes and are required to report early to the event venue for their free-make-up session while hero participants can dress up imitating their preferred hero.

“Only teenagers aged 12 years and above are allowed to join the race,” Galvez said.
A registration fee of P250 will be collected per participant upon registration which will cover the race kits, flashlight, and freebie from sponsors.
Each participant will be provided with three tags or lives which they should protect from the zombies that are out to take them at any time and anywhere during the race.
Everytime the heroes are caught, their lives will be reduced. If they escape from the zombies and finish the race with three complete tags or lives, they will receive a special survivor singlet which they will receive after the race.
Galvez also reminded that since the event is at night, they make sure that safety is the first priority.

“We will be installing night marshals, police securities and medics station in every kilometer,” said Galvez.
Initially, the organizers expected at least 1,500 participants to the event but when they advertised it on social media, it easily became a buzz resulting to more received confirmations so, they increased the target to 2,500. It may possibly increase in the next days.

Interested participants can register at the Bahay Kubo beside the San Fernando City hall and in other business partner outlets like Swaga n’ Style and Gadgets Biz, all located in this city.
“Online registration will also be opened this week,” Galvez added.
